Mission Statement
Thrive supports Chicago's youth-serving ecosystem - with a particular focus on boys and young men of color - in its efforts to reduce disparities and increase positive education, employment, and life outcomes through collaborative action and collective impact.
About This Cause
As a "backbone" organization, Thrive Chicago engages and supports community leaders and youth to design innovative solutions to local challenges. Thrive convenes cross-sector stakeholders, analyzes data and research, co-develops and pilots participatory solutions, secures resources to move the work forward, and scales what works. Through our collective impact approach, Thrive collaborates with youth-serving nonprofit organizations to dramatically improve results at scale and maximize outcomes. Our work is generally divided across four portfolios: (1) My Brother’s Keeper (MBK), a partnership between Thrive Chicago and the Obama Foundation to support the social, economic, and emotional well-being and success of boys and young men of color in Chicago; (2) Opportunity Youth, young people ages 16-24 who are persistently disconnected from education and/or employment because of systemic challenges related to issues of race and socioeconomic status (also, youth employment more broadly); (3) Youth Development, focusing on the mental health, social-emotional learning, and overall wellbeing of young people; and (4) Data and Learning, the team supporting our programmatic efforts, the data needs of the broader youth-serving ecosystem, and leading efforts to further develop Thrive’s work.
