Mission Statement
RESPONSIBLE, NON-PROFIT, FINANCIAL SUPPORT FOR NORTHWEST FAMILIES AFFLICTED BY CANCEROUS DISEASE.
About This Cause
I’ll never forget when we found out Zandy was diagnosed with breast cancer. The disease didn’t care that Zandy was only 33, in that moment we were forced to grow up way too fast. We had been married just over three and a half years and, it would appear, cancer was about to crush our honeymoon phase and push us into a battle that normally only afflicts much older couples who have had so much more time together.wedding. The next year would be a whirlwind of appointments, surgeries, chemotherapy, radiation, naturopaths, Chinese medicine, insurance, emotions, and of course family. The stresses were immense; our marriage was pushed to the max. But we came out the other end of the treatment cycle confident and determined to get our life back and move forward, happy and healthy. Zandy and I always believed all things happen for a reason and we both felt that our marriage was stronger because of our battle with cancerous disease. Zandy was always able to find lessons in the worst, positives in the darkest moments. In early November 2013 we learned that Zandy’s cancer had spread to her brain lining and spinal fluid. The next 8 weeks were a nightmare of pain and struggle, western medicine did its best, but we were riding a constant line of trying to honorably fight for life, and causing more harm than good. Everyone that loved Zandy was pushed to their emotional and physical max, all would eventually break, including me. Only those that have been through this process could possibly understand. Cancer is an ugly UGLY disease that strips everyone around it of anything beautiful about life. My wife passed away on Jan 3 2014, four and a half years after we were married. I’m grateful for every moment I had with her. Zandy was a relentlessly positive Christian woman. Everyone around her was remarkably transformed by her strength and attitude throughout her fight against cancerous disease. To this day she continues to inspire so many to live their lives with an attitude of gratitude and thanksgiving for all the blessings in life, including those blessings that are inherently a struggle. Pic 3It is in the relentless light of my wife’s life that I have created Zandys Families, a responsible, local, non-profit organization that seeks to provide financial support to Northwest families battling cancerous disease. Zandy and I were very blessed to have fantastic insurance, an amazing medical team, and a wealth of family and friends that descended on us in our time of trial and tribulation. Not everyone has these same blessings. I cannot imagine how impossibly worse our fight would have been if Zandy and I had been on our own. In this vain, Zandys Families aims to enter into sponsored families pain, and provide a custom tailored financial backstop for their most immediate and pressing needs. Mortgage payments, rent, bills, groceries, you name it, we want to help. My diligent promise to all our donors is to personally engage with the families we sponsor, and work with them to determine how best, and most efficiently, we can use funds to ease their trials, and allow them to focus on what is most important, fighting for life. Respectfully, Jason Sees
