Mission Statement
Sanctum House is a Sanctuary for Survivors of Human Trafficking to rebuild their lives and reclaim their autonomy.
About This Cause
The women that we serve come from our local communities, as well as through our connections nationally. When we opened Sanctum House on February 12, 2018, after 5 years of research and development, we became the first of its kind in southeastern Michigan. We offer treatment for up to 12 women utilizing treatment that is trauma/addiction informed and client centered. Given that we are a drug free environment, and most of our residents come to us with addiction issues, our therapeutic vantage point is one of the dual diagnosis of trauma and drug addiction. The organizations that we partner with assist us in offering our residents exceptional care in all arenas. Sanctum House is a voluntary, residential, 24-month home for women 18 years of age and older. Our program offers integrated services, for survivors of human trafficking, that address the physical, psychological, emotional, educational and spiritual components to develop a well-rounded person. By providing a safe and secure environment for our residents and staff, Sanctum House becomes the door to safety, freedom and endless possibilities. Residents will be moving towards a life of transformation in body, mind and spirit. Our program has several components and phases to achieve this fulfillment. As we work in collaboration with our community partners, we offer the following: Services Provided Counseling and Therapy for both Trauma and Addiction Medical & Dental Evaluations and Services Job Training GED/High School Completion Program/College Skilled Trade Training Computer Skills Training Job Placement Counseling Legal Assistance Health & Wellness Consulting Addiction Recovery Meetings and IOP availability Opportunities for Spiritual Growth Goals for Residents Gain / regain emotional and psychological stability Improve / enhance / gain life skills Receive education towards personal goals and career opportunities Secure full-time employment during the program Gain ability to contribute to future survivor’s success through peer support Be involved in Community Outreach and Education Remain Drug Free Graduate from 2-year program Secure appropriate housing upon graduation Maintain a relationship with Sanctum House It is a goal of our program that upon graduation our women will pay it forward. The opportunity for employment and leadership in mentoring those that come behind them is a very powerful and empowering opportunity. Who knows better than those that have walked the path? As we are learning with the women we currently serve, some would like to be peer supports and advocates for the process of recovery. We are a vehicle for them to do this, and we can offer them the education to make this possible, when properly funded. As we advocate for their healing, we will assist them in becoming survivor leaders in the community.
