Mission Statement
An organization committed to providing affordable, high quality camps to kids emphasizing youth development by combining basketball AND life skills while also offering high school students an opportunity to earn community service hours and develop leadership skills as counselors. We also provide tuition assistance to low income campers and college scholarships to high school seniors.
About This Cause
This camp started in West Seattle in 1998 for the purpose of creating an affordable camp that would raise funds for a high school basketball program in a low income area of Seattle, to provide an experience that combined basketball fundamentals and life values that should be learned from the game and would be convenient for working parents! The camps are operated through Hoops4Life, a 501(c)(3) approved Washington Nonprofit Corporation. The camp continues to be incredibly popular and operates six full week (M-F)/full day (9-4) sessions in the summer. Camps are now in West Seattle, Bellevue and Des Moines and the cost for a full week ranges from $159-$209. Camp enrollment each session ranges from 90 to 170 campers. An integral part of the camps are life skills sessions focusing on dealing with adversity, positive relationships and education. Camp counselors are high school students volunteering their time to earn community service hours and to develop their own leadership skills. We also provide a merit and need based $1000 college scholarship to a Chief Sealth High School senior and a $1000 merit and need based college scholarship to a Highline School District senior.
