HOTROCK ENERGY RESEARCH ORGANIZATION

SEATTLE, Washington, 98103-8099 United States

Mission Statement

Hotrock Energy Research Organization (HERO), a 501 (3)(c) founded in 2015 is committed to collaborative and transformative research into the science and technologies enabling high temperature and supercritical Enhanced Geothermal Systems (EGS). The heat stored in the earth’s crust is so massive that recovery of just 1–2% of the thermal energy stored in hot dry rock between 3 - 10 km depths would be sufficient to meet world energy consumption for many centuries. HERO’s mission is to collaborate with leading geothermal scientists and engineers from academia, government, national labs and private industry to define and conduct critical research to advance the state of the art of supercritical geothermal resource development. Core to HERO’s mission is public education on the importance of geothermal energy in reducing the environmental and carbon footprint of power generation and adverse impact to pristine landscapes.
