Mission Statement
The Fifty Vanderbilt Foundation was started in 2015 as part of the Yale Club of New York City's centennial celebration of its historic and architecturally important clubhouse. The Foundation was awarded 501(C) (3) nonprofit status in 2016, with the purpose of preserving and maintaining the exterior of the clubhouse.
About This Cause
The Fifty Vanderbilt Foundation, an independent non-profit organization, was established to preserve our historic Clubhouse. The Foundation's mission ensures that the Club remains a cornerstone of culture and history, serving as a place that feels like home to Yale, University of Virginia, Dartmouth and DKE fraternity alumni in New York City. The Foundation's primary focus is the care of the Club's architecturally important building. In accord with the IRS designation, funds are to be allocated to the building's exterior maintenance, preservation, structural elements, and fire protection. The effects of the age that nurture our spirit also threaten the future of our home. After 100 years, the building needs constant maintenance and care. As members, we are not only beneficiaries of our Club's history, but also custodians of its legacy. If you value your membership and are in a position to offer additional support for the Clubhouse, a donation to the Fifty Vanderbilt Foundation offers a tax-deductible way to directly benefit preservation efforts. The Foundation was the recipient of a large bequest from the estate of the late J. Scott Glascock '74, which now serves as the endowment. Prudent investment of his bequest provides an ongoing income stream. Additional revenues are generated via fundraisers (such as the biannual Gala), special events, and direct solicitations.
