Mission Statement

Freedom for All Americans is the bipartisan campaign to secure full nondiscrimination protections for LGBT people nationwide. Our work brings together Republicans and Democrats, businesses large and small, people of faith, and allies from all walks of life to make the case for comprehensive nondiscrimination protections that ensure everyone is treated fairly and equally. FFAA accomplishes this by providing national support and expertise from a dedicated team in communications, digital media, field, fundraising, messenger training and recruitment, and research. Currently, there is no federal law that explicitly and comprehensively protects LGBT people from discrimination. Moreover, 33 states have yet to pass comprehensive statewide non-discrimination laws, and our opponents are aggressively working to license discrimination in cities and states around the country. Through a blend of leadership and partnership, FFAA drives the national nondiscrimination movement to end LGBT discrimination everywhere.

About This Cause

Freedom for All Americans (FFAA) is the campaign to secure full nondiscrimination protections for LGBT people nationwide. Founded in 2015, our work brings together Republicans and Democrats, businesses large and small, people of faith, and allies from all walks of life to make the case for comprehensive nondiscrimination protections that ensure everyone is treated fairly and equally. FFAA accomplishes this by providing national support and expertise from a dedicated team in communications, digital media, field, fundraising, messenger training and recruitment, and research. While other movement organizations focus on broad missions and ongoing programs, FFAA is unique in its singular focus. Since the bulk of nondiscrimination and religious refusal efforts are in states with predominantly Republican legislative and executive control, FFAA is also intentionally a bipartisan organization. In order to reinforce our fundamental belief that equality is not a Democratic or Republican value, but rather an American value, we are positioning ourselves to work well with everyone who is committed to improving the lives of LGBT people. By forging this new path we are positioned well to work with everyone who is committed to improving the lives of LGBT people. Currently, there is no federal law that explicitly and comprehensively protects LGBT people from discrimination. Moreover, 33 states have yet to pass comprehensive statewide non-discrimination laws, and our opponents are aggressively working to license discrimination in cities and states around the country. Transgender people in America face particularly severe challenges. These include not only the widespread lack of nondiscrimination protections mentioned above, but also a fundamental lack of public education; a dearth of prominent, well trained messengers to do that public education work in states where they are most vulnerable and a concerted effort by opponents of equality to scare and mislead the public and legislators about the challenges transgender people face with regard to sex segregated facilities and services. Our top 6 strategic priorities over the next few years are aimed at further educating the country on who LGBT people are and building public momentum for a federal law to ensure that no one faces discrimination because of who they are or who they love. Our objectives include: 1) Advance affirmative non-discrimination in states and continue building national momentum 2) Defeat attempts to roll back existing protections and block attempts to allow individuals to use religion as an excuse to discriminate 3) Introduce and educate Americans about people who are transgender 4) Underscore the urgent need for LGBT non-discrimination – and the harm Americans suffer each day without these critical protections 5) Amplify and channel attention toward businesses working to keep their communities competitive with inclusive laws 6) Strengthen the sustainability of the LGBT movement
