Mission Statement

To engage the community in eliminating food insecurity and hunger in Arlington.

About This Cause

We envision an engaged and active community in which everyone has access to sufficient and nutritious food and understand the causes and effects fo food insecurity. Arlington EATS has several programs to accomplish our goal of distributing nutritious food to Arlington residents in need. The Market (food pantry) is available for food insecure Arlington residents to shop up to once a week. Guests can choose from a variety of foods including pantry staples, dairy products, meat, and fresh produce. Often guests will leave with 30-60 pounds of food, depending on their household size. Home delivery is avaiable for medically frail individuals. Annually we provide over 16,000 visits. School vacation Lunches Program is available during the February and April vacation weeks and six- weeks in the summer. Families can sign up to receive kid-friendly groceries. Snacks-The snack program is available at all the Arlington public schools for students who are unable to bring their own snack to school. Various types of snacks are available including crackers, proteins, and fresh produce. Based on an annual point-in-time count, we give over 65,000 snacks per year. Fresh Bucks is our farmers' market voucher program. Each week, individuals and families that receive SNAP can receive $15 in Fresh Bucks that can be used at the Arlington Farmers' Market to receive fresh produce and other local food items. Emergency Food Closets are stocked with non-perishable food items at Arlington Community Center, Arlington Boys and Girls Club and several affordable senior housing in order to provide emergency access points for residents in need of food.
