Mission Statement
Covered with Love, Inc. is a 501c3 nonprofit which stands in the gap of child poverty by providing diapers/disposable training pants and baby hygiene products to families in need or crisis in Terre Haute/Vigo County and our surrounding area.
About This Cause
We believe that EVERY baby/toddler deserves to be clean, dry, healthy and happy regardless of their situation! *1 in 3 parents in the U.S. struggle to provide an adequate supply of diapers for their baby *Babies use 6-10 diapers per day *Diapers can cost $70-$90 per month per child *Diapers can NOT be purchased with SNAP (food stamp) benefits nor does the WIC program provide them *There is NO government safety net program that provides diapers for babies * Without an adequate supply of diapers, children can NOT attend early childhood development center or preschools/daycares, which means parents can NOT attend classes or go to work *Children kept in soiled diapers too long creates serious health issues for the child and caregiver *Diaper need creates economical issues, as well as, mental and emotional anguish, which can lead to child abuse tendencies. We, at CWL, want to "cover with love" every baby in need of diapers, cover struggling families with love and let them know we care about their struggles. Vigo County has a very high child poverty rate, higher than the state and national average. We are standing in the gap making an impact in our area! Our distribution totals speaks volumes of the need and our impact in & around our community! Distribution Totals since opening: 2015 - 50 diapers 2016 - 1,881 2017 - 9,929 To date Aug 2018 - 11,262...so far We believe education is key to change. We provide education materials, as well as, develop educational programs to enhance family growth, such as potty training, alternatives to spanking, safe sleep for infants, literacy/communication to increase vocabulary, family engagement and more. We also provide resource information for other community service programs families may be eligible for.
