Unloop enables people with criminal backgrounds to succeed in careers in technology by providing the education, experience, and community they need to reach their full potential.
About This Cause
More people are incarcerated in the United States than in any other country in the world, with 2.3 million currently behind bars. Over 40% of those released from prison will be re-incarcerated within three years. Getting a job after release is a major predictor of successful reentry into society, but most people leaving prison do not have access to living-wage jobs due to lack of in-demand skills and the stigma of a criminal record. Unloop creates professional opportunities for people with criminal records by teaching them how to be web developers, connecting them with opportunities for professional experience, and cultivating a community of tech professionals to support them every step of the way. Being a part of the Unloop community through volunteering or donating means making a difference in the life of an individual working hard to overcome the stigma of a criminal record and change the trajectory of their life. We believe that a person's past need not define their future. Join us!
