About This Cause
United Way of Junction City/Geary County provides support throughout Geary County. Direct services include: Stuff the Bus/Adopt-A-Backpack - collection of school supplies at the beginning of the school year. Individuals/Businesses can adopt a backpack that goes to a specific child in Geary County, who is in need. Day of Caring - Volunteers come together to provide basic yard clean up for the elderly and disabled in our community. VITA Program - Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program. Individuals and families can come and have their taxes filed for free. Meal Kits - This is not just food, it is a complete meal that can feed a family of 4-6. These are offered through partnerships in the community. COVID RELIEF During the COVID19 outbreak in Geary County, United Way of Junction City/Geary County partnered with USD 475 and LiveWell Geary County to provide food relief. United Way of Junction City/Geary County provided over 5,000 Meal Kits from March to June. Each Meal Kit can feed a family of 4 or more, which means over 20,000 meals for our community. In addition to Meal Kits, our office also partnered with Catholic Charities to provide Grocery Assistance to families in need. Gift cards were provided to families so that they could get necessities for their home ie. food, hygiene, fuel, medication. United Way of Junction City/Geary County also provides support to different agencies within Geary County. These agencies provide services to residents in Geary County, your neighbors, family members, friends, classmates, or co-workers. We support programs that cover all ages, financial backgrounds, ethnicities, religious beliefs, and cultures. From the Junction City Family YMCA’s 4th Grade Swim program to the Food Pantry, Crisis Center, or even the Special Olympics, United Way of Junction City/Geary County encompasses all walks of life. Our partner agencies are: Big Brothers/Big Sisters, CASA of the 8th Judicial, Crisis Center, Food Pantry, Girl Scouts, Junction City Family YMCA, Kansas Legal Services, Open Door Community House, JC Pacesetters/Special Olympics, and Pawnee Mental Health Services/Youth Program Services.
