Mission Statement

The United Way of the Flint Hills is building a vibrant community by focusing on education, income, and health.

About This Cause

United Way of the Flint Hills (UWFH) is a local, non-profit organization meeting local needs. The United Way identifies issues facing our community’s residents, and we seek solutions to those problems. Our initiatives, investments, and programs are focused on improving the education, health, and financial stability of our Flint Hills neighbors. Programs managed from our office include Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, the UWFH/ECKAN Emergency Housing Project, Summer Climbin' and Healthier Lyon County. We also fund the work at the following local organizations: Building Blocks Community Child Care Center, Camp Alexander, CASA of the 8th Judicial District, Cerebral Palsy Research Foundation, Sparkwheel, CrossWinds Counseling and Wellness, East Central Kansas Area Agency on Aging, Emporia Child Care, Food for Students, Girl Scouts of Kansas Heartland, Help House of Osage County, Housing and Credit Counseling, Inc., Jayhawk Area Boy Scouts, Kansas Children's Service League, Kansas Legal Services, LEAP! (Lifestyle Empowerment for Alzheimer's Prevention) at ESU, Sacred Heart Child Care Center, SOS Inc., Little Huskies, The Salvation Army.
