Mission Statement

Court-Appointed Special Advocates are volunteers who give their time to advocate for children who have experienced abuse and neglect and are under the protection of the juvenile court.

About This Cause

Every year in Douglas County dozens of children are placed in foster care. Due to abuse and neglect, they are removed from their homes and taken to a safe environment, often a place they've never seen before. Suddenly, they are surrounded by strangers--foster parents, social workers, lawyers and judges. Their future seems completely uncertain, creating an overwhelming sense of sorrow, pain and loss. They feel helpless and afraid. They are separated from their toys, pets, family and friends. Their world will never be the same. This is where a CASA volunteer steps in to help. CASA strives to ensure that children of Douglas County grow up in safe, permanent and loving homes by advocating for the best interests of children who have been abused and neglected and are under the protection of the Juvenile Court.
