Mission Statement
Our Mission at Heart to Heart International is improving global health through initiatives that connect people and resources to a world in need. Our Vision - We imagine a world in which every person has access to a healthy life and every community has the capacity to make that access a reality.
About This Cause
Heart to Heart International (HHI) has been creating a healthier world since 1992 when Kansas City area residents arranged for a humanitarian airlift of donated medical supplies to Moscow. That “one-time” grassroots effort has lasted more than 25 years. Our mission is to improve global health through initiatives that connect people and resources to a world in need. Through our mobilization efforts, we provide medical education, deliver medical aid, respond to people in crisis and address community-health concerns around the globe. Heart to Heart International works in conjunction with organizations all over the world to deliver donated medical supplies and medicines and deliver direct medical and non-medical assistance. Current Activities • Distributing Care – $100 million in donated medical supplies, equipment, and pharmaceuticals are distributed yearly with the help of on-the-ground partner organizations in the U.S. and internationally and gift-in-kind shipping from FedEx. • Disaster – Readiness and response to U.S. and global disasters with donated medical supplies, hygiene kits, mobile medical clinic and medical volunteers. • Volunteers – Medical and non-medical volunteers to help around the world in disaster and non-disaster deployments. • Haiti – Initiatives include Federation Development Program (local Haitian-led community development that includes leadership training and other education), healthcare (clinics, medical supplies and laboratories), community health workers who train local people about cholera and other WASH-related concerns, Kore Fanmi (with UNICEF), and laboratory technician training (to WHO standards). • Medical Safety Net – Support safety net clinics in the U.S. and globally with donated medical equipment and supplies, expert training/seminars, and setting up and supporting in-clinic labs.
