Mission Statement

Our mission is to provide funding for families who are living with cancer, create public awareness of childhood cancer, and offer hope to families who are affected by childhood cancer.

About This Cause

Kans for Kids Fighting Cancer Foundation is a 501-c-3 non-profit organization dedicated to providing emotional and financial assistance to families who are living with childhood cancer. The project was developed in 1994 by Sarah, 11, and Shane Reif, 8, of Hoisington, to help with the medical expenses of their 9-month-old cousin, Katie, who had been diagnosed with cancer. Funds for Kans for Kids are raised by recycling aluminum cans, fund-raisers, memorials and donations. Kans for Kids expanded into Russell County in 2015 and Rice County in 2017 and Pawnee County in 2019 with an outreach program that will offer the same benefits and assistance as provided in Barton County. Kans for Kids sponsors three scholarships, the Becky Nicholson Scholarship and the Jan Aylward Memorial Scholarship. Both renewable scholarships are given to any child who has been assisted by Kans for Kids as they pursue education beyond high school. In 2019, the Dade Cannon Memorial Scholarship was established for siblings of any child who has been assisted by Kans for Kids. They receive a $500 one-time scholarship.
