About This Cause
We Must Help the Hungry Children of Our State There are plenty of controversial societal problems for us to debate, but feeding hungry kids isn’t one of them. Every day we allow this to go on is a day we’re not living up to our responsibility to the 300,000 kids in Washington State who are food insecure. How We Will Solve Childhood Hunger Feed Washington is solving childhood hunger one school, one neighborhood, one child at a time. The process is simple: 1. We go into an area (it could be a neighborhood, a school district, or an individual school) and work with the organizations who are already on ground level feeding kids to determine the number of hungry kids in that area, and then... 2. We reach out to the businesses, the students and alumni of the schools, and the current residents in that area, to create a recurring donation stream sufficient to ensure all of the children in that area are fed on an ongoing basis. The creation of a monthly, recurring donation stream is what allows us to actually solve hunger for these children. We have already proven our concept in Ballard, Washington, and are currently in the middle of a campaign in the Lake Washington School District to feed its 600 hungry children. https://www.feedwashington.org/current-campaigns What Amount Won’t You Notice? Feed Washington doesn’t ask you to give until it hurts, but instead that you give the amount you won’t notice on your pay stub, credit card or bank statement each month. So, what amount won’t you notice? $5? $10? $50? Don’t worry if you are only able to donate a small amount; every dollar is important as we move toward our goal. Let’s Solve Childhood Hunger Once and For All With childhood hunger, we have a tremendous opportunity that doesn’t exist with most other societal ills: we can quickly solve it and move on to other, more difficult, issues. We don’t have to find a cure, invent something, or debate whether or not feeding kids is a good idea. Let’s not hope someone else will fix the problem, or ignore it and hope it goes away. Let’s solve childhood hunger, now, and then put our collective attention to the next, most vulnerable group that needs our help.
