Mission Statement

13th St. Neighborhood Advisory Committee’s 13th Street Cat Rescue is a small but determined group of volunteers serving San Jose and the surrounding areas since 2005 (officially). We are dedicated to improving the lives of feral and social cats, and in controlling the population by the use of Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR). We provide necessary veterinary care, including ones requiring special needs, and provide love for each until they find their forever home.

About This Cause

Our Commitment • Promote TNR (Trap, Neuter, Return) of neighborhood feral cats • Adopt out cats and kittens by placing them into loving foster and permanent homes • Educate our community of the importance of spay/neuter • Require 100% spay/neuter prior to adoption of all cats in our care • Maintain a high standard of love and care for each cat that comes into our care • Partnering with other organizations to optimize pet adoption and resources • Educating on responsible pet ownership and the value of cats Under the 13th Street Neighborhood Advisory Committee, 13th Street Cat Rescue is a 501c(3) nonprofit. What began as a single, dedicated animal lover has expanded to a small, dedicated group of volunteers. 13th Street Cat Rescue, centrally located in San Jose, has been in operation for over a decade, saving countless lives and providing community education and assistance, in addition to controlling and managing the cat population through the use of Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR). Trap-Neuter-Return is an effective, internationally recognized program by which cats are trapped, vaccinated, spayed or neutered and returned to their original location to be cared for. The rescue currently manages and maintains several feral colonies, including veterinary care. Kittens and cats that can be socialized are placed into foster care, and then placed up for adoption. By far, the largest expense are veterinary bills, especially for those requiring special needs. From standard spay/neuters to amputations with rehabilitation, we believe that all cats deserve the opportunity to have a good, healthy life in a forever home. Your support directly provides the needed resources for us to continue helping cats to have a pain-free, fulfilling life of love – a life they deserve.
