Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Wilmington compassionately serves all people in their times of vulnerability. We offer services to alleviate human suffering, and advocate for strong, healthy and vibrant communities across Delaware and Maryland’s Eastern Shore.
About This Cause
Catholic Charities, Inc., a faith-based, social services nonprofit, delivers critical direct care human services to individuals and families in Delaware and Maryland’s Eastern Shore regardless of religion, race, or ability to pay. Established in 1830 as St. Peter’s Orphanage in Wilmington, Catholic Charities’ services have grown from the care of orphaned children to helping all of our neighbors in need. Programs include basic needs services [financial coaching, case management support for those at risk of homelessness, emergency financial grants for rent, utility payments in arrears threatening permanent housing, food distribution programs], behavioral health services [first episode psychosis for youth to age 18, other preventive integrated health services], immigration, the only licensed residential maternity home in Delaware, Bayard House; an adult emergency shelter, Casa San Francisco; subsidized rental housing for seniors, Marydale Retirement Village; and a multi-purpose center in Princess Anne MD, Seton Center. We are the statewide administrator for the Delaware Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program [LIHEAP].
