Mission Statement

Aurora Interfaith Community Services (AICS) is a 501 (c) 3 emergency assistance agency in the third largest city in Colorado. AICS served 8,000 people in 2017 with food, clothing, bus tickets, utility assistance, school supplies, household goods, and toiletries. AICS serves community residents and the homeless at no charge. Our mission is to provide substantive assistance to the residents of Aurora and our vision is to give compassionately a helping hand to those in need.

About This Cause

Aurora Interfaith Community Services is governed by a diverse Board and staff of 5. It is open 4 days a week and provides a place for the community of businesses, church organizations to bring in-kind goods and community service volunteer time. In 2017, 33 volunteers gave 6,600 hours of service. AICS has Open Houses each month on Saturdays in order to introduce people to the agency. In 2017, AICS * served 6,458 people with a week's worth of food valued at $323,776 on a food budget of $3,000 because it has so many supplies from the government, businesses, churches, and individuals; * provided clothing and layettes to1,213 people valued at $220,225 on a clothing budget of $2,500 because of tremendous support of in-kind donations; * gave 6,932 persons diapers, books, toys, hygiene supplies, and household goods valued at $27,326; * provided 150 persons with utility assistance of $5,909; and * gave 111 people bus tickets worth $$2,330. A case manager follows up with every client new to the 40 year old data base to provide internal and external referrals so that they can move more quickly from situational crises and economic instability. AICS is a partner of Food Bank of the Rockies, Gateway Shelter for Battered Women, the Epilepsy Foundation, and the University of Colorado Health and Wellness Center. It is a charter member of the Colorado Food Pantry Network and works closely with Hunger Free Colorado and the Aurora Action Coalition for Community Services as well as the Aurora Critical Response Team.
