Center on Halsted advances community and secures the health and well-being of the LGBTQ people of Chicagoland.
About This Cause
Center on Halsted is the Midwest's most comprehensive community center dedicated to advancing community and securing the health and well-being of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer (LGBTQ) people of Chicagoland. More than 1,000 community members visit the Center every day, located in the heart of Chicago's Lakeview Neighborhood. Center on Halsted has received a coveted 4-star rating, from Charity Navigator, for demonstrating strong financial health and commitment to accountability and transparency for seven consecutive years! Attaining a 4-star rating verifies that Center on Halsted exceeds industry standards and outperforms most charities in its area of work. As of September 2019, only 6% of charities evaluated by Charity Navigator have received this designation. Center on Halsted also serves as the fiscal sponsor for Brave Space Alliance, the first Black-led, trans-led LGBTQ Center located on the South Side of Chicago, dedicated to creating and providing affirming, culturally competent, for-us by-us resources, programming, and services for LGBTQ individuals on the South and West Sides of Chicago.
