LCAC is an independent 501(c)3, nonprofit organization that partners with a wide array of religious groups, community organizations, corporations, individuals & local businesses to fulfill its mission.

About This Cause

LCAC was founded in 1975 and the first short-term food outreach occurred in 1976 to a dozen families. Since that time, LCAC programs and services have continued to expand and now comprise these primary components - Healthy Families, Sustainability, and Bridge programs. The Healthy Families Program provides supportive emergency or ongoing food assistance to address food insecurity that low-income families, seniors, military members, and children experience when living in poverty. The Sustainability Program focuses on preventing homelessness by providing financial assistance and associated case management to families that have received an eviction or utility disconnect notice. The LCAC Bridge Program seeks to address education and literacy across the age spectrum and employment-related issues which prevent immigrant and native-born households from becoming self-sufficient. During FY23, LCAC food distribution provided 168,379 meals worth of food in response to 7,576 unique visits to our pantry, provided weekly food to 1,321 individuals in 380 households and provided 1,480 individuals with Thanksgiving food and/or holiday food and gifts. The Sustainability Program provided emergency rent/utility assistance to 314 households aiding 982 individuals, provided 107 low-income individuals with case management services to help develop a plan for sustainability, and provided 65 qualifying households and 136 clients with household items and clothing valued at over $7,000 in donated goods. In FY23 (as of June 22nd), efforts from the Bridge Program included assisting 21 individuals with resume preparation, provided Introduction to Computer Basics classes, provided twice-weekly English classes to 93 students, and provided more than 600 eligible students with new backpacks and school supplies,
