Mission Statement
We are a community based organization that serves as a liaison between it's citizens and city officials. We strive to sustain and enhance the quality of life in our community through neighborhood revitalization, education, cultural enrichment, and human services.
About This Cause
ECDC is the community center of the Eastside of Charleston, an underserved and low-wealth urban area of Charleston, SC. We work for our children to have a better education and healthy events that they can attend on their own parks. We work with our community bringing needed health fairs, information on Heir's property laws, voting rights, National Night Out is a traditional event, STOP the Violence, Eastside CARES ( program to feed our homebound/differently abled residents), Eastside WORKS ( a program to allow our kids ages 12 - 15 to work with contractors and learn different trades while earning). We strive to take our kids on college tours and support their school events with volunteers and monetary support. This year will be the first for our children to have a 16'-25' Christmas tree on their own park, that they will decorate with wreaths and ornaments representing their respective schools, an historic event! Our community building serves as a wedding chapel for some and a final funeral service for others. We serve as a center for a community against rape and domestic and all other types of violence. We collaborate well with our police department to keep crime low and keep our children out of jail. We work with the arts and support Black History Month, Spoleto and MOJA, etc. There is nothing we are not aware of in our community, and we fill the needs where they are.
