Mission Statement
Arno or Animal Rescue New Orleans, https://animalrescueneworleans.org/about/, is a volunteer-based organization created and dedicated to the rescue and aid of abandoned and homeless animals founded in the wake of Hurricane Katrina as the first no-kill shelter to serve the New Orleans area. ARNO responds to the immediate aid of those in need of medical care especially those most at risk: the old, very young, sick, neglected, abused or deprived of love. ARNO supports the foster, adoption and reunion of pets with caretakers; as well as spaying and neutering of all companion animals. Since March of 2006 ARNO has rescued and rehomed over 11,000 animals. ARNO has taken in more than 960 cats and dogs since March of 2020 due to the pandemic, almost twice as many as the same time the year before. ARNO volunteers have worked frontline distributing pet food and helping people keep their pets through the ARNO Covid Community Outreach. About This Cause
ARNO is a no-kill shelter and rescue group that has rescued and rehomed more than 11,000 animals since March of 2006. ARNO helps indigents and people down on their luck with donated food and even vet care. ARNO also has a senior hospice program in which senior pets are adopted through adoption application and homecheck but then ARNO covers all extraordinary care for life. ARNO also takes animals from people who are ill, going into a nursing home, dying or have died. We want people to have the reassurance that we will be there for them and their pets. A donation to ARNO as a volunteer based group truly helps the animals. Even the directors are volunteers.
