Mission Statement
Bay Area Young Survivors (BAYS) is a support and action group for people under the age of forty-five in the San Francisco Bay Area who are living with breast cancer.
About This Cause
Bay Area Young Survivors (BAYS) is a support and action group for people under the age of forty-five in the San Francisco Bay Area who are living with breast cancer. The goal of BAYS is to break the isolation of living with breast cancer by providing a community built on compassion, understanding, hope, and inspiration. We are at each other’s sides during death, births, chemo infusions, and birthdays. We are an inclusive community and we welcome all young adults diagnosed with breast cancer – from the newly diagnosed, to those battling recurrent or metastatic disease, to long-term survivors. We are a diverse and compassionate group that are united by our passion to survive this disease. We offer peer led support groups, educational events, community meetups, emergency financial support, and a community building platform. BAYS also offers a special support group called Mets in the City (MITC) for members with metastatic breast cancer. Virtually every day of the year we add new members and throughout the year we also lose members to the disease. Our membership has grown to 2000+ members in the San Francisco Bay Area.
