MTS creates opportunities through networking, events, mentorship, and career advancement. Our vision is to be the leading authority and advocate for marine technology and resources while promoting member success and public understanding. MTS facilitates a broader understanding of the relevance of marine technology to wider global issues by enhancing the dissemination of marine technology information. Promotes and improves marine technology and related educational programs. And advances the development of the tools and procedures required to explore, study and further the responsible and sustainable use of the oceans.
About This Cause
The MATE ROV Competition was created in 2001 in partnership with the MTS ROV Committee as a workforce development platform for the maritime industry. The competition now reaches a global audience, inspiring thousands of students annually to dive into ocean science and technology and has evolved into a program that includes professional development workshops, outreach activities, instructional materials, SeaMATE starter ROV kits and building guides, and more to support student learning. The MATE ROV Competition isn‘t solely about creating underwater robotics; it‘s about directing efforts toward specific goals that captivate student curiosity and drive active engagement in solving real-world challenges. Integrating this competition into the Marine Technology Society‘s initiatives offers an opportunity to foster connections and unify our community to inspire the next generation of marine technology innovators and leaders.
