Mission Statement
Our mission is to utilize the human-animal bond to brighten the lives of the lonely, ease the pain of the sick, and enrich the world of at-risk children.
About This Cause
PAL leverages the human animal bond to meet society’s needs. PAL has two programs, Pet Visit and PAL Club. In the Pet Visit Program more than 350 \pet owners and their animals visit the elderly, the mentally ill, and children in need in nursing homes, hospice and schools throughout the DC metro area. PAL Club helps low-income children in two impoverished neighborhoods gain life skills with a comprehensive afterschool and summer programs combining Animal Studies with reading, math and fun activities. The Animal Studies natural sciences lessons build around interactions with living animals, like butterflies, gerbils, turtles and fish.
