Mission Statement
Chartered by Congress, the National Forest Foundation was created with a simple mission: bring people together to restore and enhance our National Forests and Grasslands. The National Forest Foundation is the leading organization inspiring personal and meaningful connections to our National Forests, the centerpiece of America’s public lands. Working on behalf of the American public, the NFF leads forest conservation efforts and promotes responsible recreation. We believe these lands, and all they provide, are an American treasure and are vital to the health of our communities. The challenges facing our National Forests and Grasslands are immense and complicated. But we believe that the power of communities and collaboration can, and will, prove capable of meeting these challenges. Our work these past decades has proven this true time and again. We hope you’ll join us in fulfilling our mission to care for these treasured landscapes. We look forward to a future where all Americans know and care about our National Forests and Grasslands.
About This Cause
Our National Forests and Grasslands are the clean water that flows from our taps. They are the backdrop of family memories and special traditions. They are livelihoods and the resources that power rural economies. They are places to go for recreation and rejuvenation, peace and solace. Founded by Congressional charter, the National Forest Foundation works to improve the health and productivity of our National Forests and Grasslands through wildlife habitat conservation, tree planting, watershed restoration, recreational enhancements, and community-based forest stewardship programs. Working through a combination of on-the-ground conservation initiatives, grant programs, and technical assistance, we involve communities, organizations, partners, and individuals in caring for their local forests and watersheds. The NFF works to protect and enhance the many benefits of National Forests and Grasslands – from fresh water to wildlife habitat to unparalleled recreation opportunities. Whether you live in one of the 3,400 communities that gets its water from a National Forest or you’ve paddled through the sprawling Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness in Minnesota’s Superior National Forest, hiked the sky-scraping peaks of Colorado’s National Forests or watched the sun rise from a rocky pinnacle in New Hampshire’s White Mountain National Forest, our National Forests provide critical services and incredible places that connect us all. When you give to the NFF, you help improve these special spots and others like them, while protecting clean water for millions of Americans, enhancing habitat for wildlife, and ensuring that they will remain healthy and accessible now and for future generations.
