Mission Statement
To revitalize high-poverty communities through the delivery of essential support services, innovative educational and workforce development programs, and creative entrepreneurship opportunities to high-need families.
About This Cause
Since1994, TIS has provided critical support for individuals and families in need in the United States and Africa. TIS strives to end the cycle of poverty one family at a time. Our mission is “to serve and strengthen families and individuals by building healthy communities and reducing disparities within underserved communities across the nation.” Over the years we have promoted a variety of sustainable solutions for social, income, and health disparities, including job training, wellness programs, and mental health support. At TIS we believe that entrepreneurship and workforce development are the most effective means for people to emerge from poverty. TIS offers education and empowerment programs that promote economic opportunities, stabilizing families and neighborhoods. Our workforce development program focuses on the healthcare, hospitality, childcare, information technology (IT), construction and facilities management industries. We offer soft skills training, skills certifications, and training in small business development. The TIS Foundation goal is to promote wellbeing in youth and adults and remove barriers to their leading strong and productive lives. Through our proven workforce development programs and community outreach services, which continue to serve thousands annually, we have built a reputation as a foremost partner in connecting with local groups to create powerful personal and professional transformation solutions that are fully supported by a comprehensive suite of social services that ensure accessibility and equity. We have expanded our programs and services within the communities of color, to support their disproportionate economic, health and social challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We have accelerated our medical and social services departments to provide testing, screening, food security, and interventions to stop evictions and stop foreclosures, which we anticipate will increase due to the end of the moratorium. We are preparing our children and families in the “New Normal” by creating sustainable jobs in medical and environmental personnel to save lives in the vulnerable communities of color.
