Mission Statement
PeerForward’s mission is to unleash the power of positive peer influence to transform the lives of youth living in low-income communities by connecting them to college and careers.
About This Cause
PeerForward has been an innovator in the college access field for two decades, with a focus on unleashing the power of positive peer influence to drive college enrollment rates up in high schools serving low-income communities. Through the PeerForward Method, we train, deploy, and coach teams of high school students – Peer Leaders – charged with boosting college preparation and enrollment across their entire schools, mobilizing their friends and classmates to realize their true college and career potential. We train the teams in transformational summer workshops to execute three school-year campaigns to get classmates to take key steps research shows greatly improves chances for college enrollment: 1) applying to at least three postsecondary schools; 2) applying early for financial aid; and 3) making the connection between career aspirations for tomorrow and academic decisions made today. PeerForward teams and their Advisors are supported by our staff through frequent check-ins, tools, and technology.
