Mission Statement

Cultural Tourism DC celebrates the importance of the history and culture of the diverse neighborhoods of Washington, DC, and the District's economic prosperity by developing, delivering, and celebrating authentic and memorable experiences for area residents and visitors. Cultural Tourism DC promotes the use and enjoyment of the city's historic, cultural and creative assets so that people may learn about and delight in the District of Columbia, beyond the monuments.

About This Cause

For 25 years, Cultural Tourism DC (CTDC) has explored and celebrated the heritage of Washington, DC and its inhabitants. It is a humanities organization that engages the local, national, and international parts of what makes Washington, DC, unique, fostering inclusive, enjoyable, and memorable moments for residents, visitors, and global citizens. Its major programs—Passport DC, Around the World Embassy Tour, WalkingTown DC, Neighborhood Heritage Trails and Sites, and PorchFest—appeal to multiple generations who are eager to explore, understand, and appreciate the District of Columbia. CTDC’s programs and events are original and aspirational. They attract diverse organizations, audiences, and volunteers. By using the setting of Washington, DC’s 68 square miles to weave the District’s history of the famous, the infamous, and the barely known, Cultural Tourism DC shares stories that inspire, inform, and transform its audiences.
