The mission of the PHS Commissioned Officers Foundation for the Advancement of Public Health is to “Build leadership in public health through advocacy, education, research, partnerships, and program support.” Our vision is to “Advance public health and public health leadership for a healthier nation.”
About This Cause
The Public Health Service (PHS) Commissioned Officers Foundation for the Advancement of Public Health (hereafter referred to as COF) was created in 2000 to provide support for public health professionals nationwide. It is organized, and operated exclusively to receive, administer and expend funds for charitable and educational purposes within the Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986. The purpose of the organization is as follows: (a) education and training for health professionals; (b) conduct of studies and research; (c) collaboration and assistance with similar educational and charitable organizations; (d) broad dissemination of public and professional information; and other related activities. The COF is an affiliate of the Commissioned Officers Association of the U.S. Public Health Service.
