Mission Statement
The mission of the Four Walls Career and Technical Education Center is to provide unemployed and underemployed District of Columbia residents with basic literacy skills, employability skills, and career and technical education as a means of increasing self-sufficiency and improving quality of life.
About This Cause
Four Walls is a dedicated trade school that empowers individuals by providing the technical skills and knowledge needed for specific careers. Our goal is to help students identify their strengths, overcome barriers to self-sufficiency, and achieve their educational and professional goals through personalized, student-centered methods. At Four Walls, we utilize individualized assessments and create tailored Individual Student Profiles (ISPs) to ensure each student receives the support they need. Our objective is to enhance basic and workplace literacy skills, aiming for measurable improvements such as advancing at least one skill or grade level on the CASAS Appraisal, Pre/Post-tests, attaining a high school diploma, and documenting the acquisition of essential competencies for employment and career advancement. We also prepare our participants for entry into post-secondary education programs. Our focus is on preparing students for competitive employment in high-demand sectors, particularly the construction industry. We achieve this by offering industry-recognized certifications, internships, mentorships, apprenticeships, job-shadowing opportunities, and employment placements or promotions. Four Walls offers a range of courses, including HVAC, Electrical Wiring, Stationary Steam Engineering (Boiler Operations), Microsoft Office Suite, and CompTIA A+. Additionally, adults seeking to earn their high school diploma can enroll in the National External Diploma Program. Through our comprehensive programs and individualized approach, Four Walls is committed to building a skilled workforce and helping individuals achieve lasting success in their chosen careers.
