About This Cause
We are an African American Catholic Church in SE, Washington, DC. known as Anacostia. We have worshipped and operated for 96 years with an elementary school for 91 years. Currently we collaborate with the Washington School for Girls that educates with no tuition young ladies of SE DC in grade 3-5. We are active in our community collaborating with Catholic Charities, the Local Food Bank, and Martha's Table through a Weekly Food Pantry and monthly provision of food to the Men's Shelter. An Active Youth Ministry serves our Church Youth and includes non member youth from our community. We collaborate with other Community agencies. such as the Far Southeast Family Strengthening Collaborative and the Anacostia Coordinating Council Interfaith Committee, Good Faith Housing Coalition, Providence Medical Center Health Fair, Breast Cancer Awareness w/ Georgetown Medical Ctr, as well as our usual Parish, Intra Parish and Diocesan Networking. Thus we are committed to worship our God, witness to our faith, promote education, direct services on behalf of those in need in our community and seek to address the causes of those needs.
