About This Cause

Founded in 1944, the National Congress of American Indians (NCAI) is the oldest, largest, and most representative organization advocating for the rights and well-being of Tribal Nations. As the unified voice for Tribal Nations, NCAI works to protect and enhance sovereignty, secure traditional laws and ways of life, and promote the rightful place of Tribes within the family of American governments. NCAI drives systemic change by equipping Tribal leaders and Native communities with the tools, knowledge, and resources needed to address pressing challenges and build sustainable futures. Through education, advocacy, environmental initiatives, and youth programs, NCAI supports self-determined growth while fostering leadership, resilience, and innovation across Indian Country. Our work is rooted in Indigenous traditions and guided by the priorities of Tribal Nations, ensuring that every initiative respects and strengthens their sovereignty. Together, we are building a future of opportunity, equity, and sustainability for all Native communities. The National Congress of American Indians is the unified voice for Tribal Nations. Supporting NCAI means directly investing in the sovereignty, leadership, and well-being of Tribal Nations.
