About This Cause
Through the fund distribution process, United Way ensures basic health and human services are available in Central Virginia should you, your family or fellow employee ever need them. Much thought, planning and organization goes into funding 36 programs at 25 Partner Agencies. All programs fall under one of our four critical focus areas – Education, Health, Financial Stability, and Basic Human Needs. In each critical area we also look for programs that help people with the building blocks for a better life. Education means helping children and youth achieve their potential. Financial stability means that people have the ability to earn adequate income and be independent. Health means that people have the ability and the resources to improve their physical and mental health. Basic Human Needs means that people can pay their utility bills and put food on the table. Through all of these efforts, we improve the basic quality of life for residents of our region (Lynchburg and the surrounding counties).
