Mission Statement

The Peninsula SPCA is an Adoption-Guarantee, "no-kill" shelter on the Virginia Peninsula. The shelter provides food, shelter, and medical care for the homeless animals of our community while they await their forever homes. The PSPCA also operates a Petting Zoo and Humane Education Learning Center dedicated to the advocacy and encouragement of animal welfare and responsible pet ownership. In addition, the shelter's new affordable, preventative care veterinary clinic provides low-cost vaccinations and spay/neuter surgeries to the community.

About This Cause

Our Shelter Since 1963, the Peninsula SPCA has provided shelter and adoption services for the homeless pets of Hampton, Newport News, Poquoson and York County. In 2015, we transitioned to be an Adoption Guarantee, or “no kill” animal shelter, allowing us to expand our services to include adoption, humane education offerings to students and civic groups, and outreach programs to the citizens of our community. We have placed over 45,000 animals into loving homes in the last decade and have returned thousands of stray animals to their owners. Our Mission The mission of the Peninsula SPCA is to find loving homes for every animal in our care, and to advocate for the humane treatment of all animals in our community. Our Vision The staff, volunteers and Directors of the Peninsula SPCA invite you to join us as we enter into our new era of being an Adoption Guarantee organization. In this role, we are committed to save all healthy and treatable animals under our care and sheltering them at our facility until we find new homes for them, no matter how long that takes.
