Mission Statement
Our Mission: ACTS provides relief, fosters hope and promotes self-sufficiency for our Prince William area neighbors in crises due to hunger, homelessness and the personal violence of domestic abuse and sexual assault. ACTS is a private, nonprofit 501 (c) 3 organization founded in 1969.
About This Cause
ACTS Programs 1) Client Support Services, which distributes food and financial assistance for utility cut off notices. A Thrift store that serve as a clearing house for items given free to families in need and a revenue source. ACTS offers an employment training program that is in partnership with Northern Virginia Community College to provide free Certified Nursing Assistant classes to low-income residents. 2) Housing Services, This is a multi-faceted program whose fundamental goal is to assist families to gain the myriad of tools necessary to achieve economic independence and self-sufficiency. We manage two homeless shelters, affordable housing, transitional housing and a rapid re-housing program 3) Senior link hot line that provides support information and referrals, a call reassurance program that makes scheduled calls to senior citizens or disadvantaged shut-ins; 4) Turning Points, the only domestic violence prevention and intervention program serving the Greater Prince William Area. This program includes two safe houses; a 15-bed shelter at the Eastern end of the County and a 15-bed shelter near Manassas. 5. SAVAS (Sexual Assault Victims Advocacy Services) is the sexual assault crisis center serving Prince William County and the Cities of Manassas and Manassas Park.
