Mission Statement
The HSAC provides shelter, food, medical care, and lots of love until we can find loving forever homes for all the homeless animals under our care.
About This Cause
The HSAC was established in 1979 to shelter homeless animals of Amherst County. We are dedicated to taking care of the animals until we can find them loving forever homes. We are a no-kill shelter. Besides housing the animals, we also work with the public in helping them to spay/neuter their pets by assisting with transportation to the local spay/neuter clinic. Also, we work with other rescue groups who help us with adoptions. Once a week we have a veterinarian come to the shelter to give shots and help with any medical issues that might need attention. Our staff and Board are loyal and hard working in making sure all the animals are given lots of love and attention while we try to find them the perfect forever home.
