About This Cause
New Hope Housing is an innovative nonprofit agency in Northern Virginia providing shelter, transitional and permanent supportive housing, and support services for homeless families and single adults. We are committed to finding creative and lasting solutions to end the cycle of homelessness by offering homeless men, women and children the services they need to change their lives and succeed. And each individual success story contributes to a stronger, healthier community for all. For more than 40 years, New Hope Housing has helped transform our region’s thinking and actions towards ending homelessness. Founded in 1977 by citizens concerned about people they saw living on the street and in camps along Route One, New Hope Housing opened the first homeless shelter in Fairfax County in 1978, serving 8 single adults. The agency has grown over its forty-five year history, responding to community needs. New Hope Housing is now a regional agency serving up to 400 adults daily in Fairfax County, Arlington County, Alexandria, and Falls Church including: • 6 shelter programs providing 165 beds year-round and 80 more beds in winter. • 9 supportive housing programs serving 102 adults. • Community case management and prevention services for at-risk households. • Individual case management, education and employment, housing location, life skills classes, social and recreational programming. During FY 2022, New Hope Housing served 1,551 individuals in one or more of our programs, and successfully moved 294 single adults into permanent housing. More than 90% of our residents in permanent supportive housing remained housed with us or moved to another suitable housing program.
