Mission Statement
The Paul D. Camp Community College (PDCCC) Foundation is a not-for-profit organized in 1980 to secure resources which promote the continuing progress of the College. The PDCCC Foundation is fiscally and organizationally separate from the College and is funded through private donations, grants and other gifts. It is responsible for allocating these resources to support programming, diverse learning opportunities and activities of the College.
About This Cause
PDCCC confers: Associates of Arts & Science (AA&S) degrees; Associates of Applied Science (AAS) degrees; Certificate Programs (CERT); and Career Studies Certifications (CSC). Educational opportunities are offered in General Studies and over 60 other programs in seven major areas of study including: Health Sciences; Administrative and Office Support; Education, Business and Management; Industrial Technology and Trades; Science, Technology, and Computing; and Public Safety. In several areas, credentials are “stackable,” meaning that students can begin by first earning a Career Studies Certificate and then progress to additional certificates or a degree. In addition to associate degrees, career studies certificates in transfer and career/technical programs, credit and non-credit workforce services, or training for businesses and industries, PDCCC provides special interest classes for the community such as Encore and Renaissance 55+ for seniors. PDCCC also is home to a Regional Workforce Development Center that offers training and education options to meet the needs of employers and the citizens of PDCCC’s service area, which encompasses Isle of Wight and Southampton Counties as well as the Cities of Suffolk and Franklin. PDCCC proports that there is significant opportunity in its region for growth as it endeavors to position the College to be responsive to area manufacturers and businesses seeking a pool of skilled workers that are integral to the economic stability of the Western Tidewater area. Also, PDCCC’s commitment to maintaining strong relationships with local high schools has led to increasing enrollment in its Dual Enrollment Program. Dual Enrollment allows qualified juniors and seniors to complete college credits while they are still in high school. Through its granted and donated resources, the PDCCC Foundation awards funding for scholarships to students in need of financial support to launch or continue their education and training needed to improve their and their families’ standards of living. The college maintains a food bank for students and their families, which is stocked with non-perishable foods for which the PDCCC Foundation pursues grant funding from local businesses to support with food, gift cards and/or perishable items during the holidays.
