Mission Statement
The Federation of Virginia Food Banks, a collaborative network of seven regional food banks and over 1,100 local pantries, is dedicated to eliminating hunger and enhancing nutrition equity across the Commonwealth. We leverage our collective strengths to build partnerships at the intersection of hunger and health and innovate food distribution for more than 900,000 Virginians in need of a helping hand. Together, we aim to build healthier, more resilient communities, ensuring that access to nutrition becomes a cornerstone of wellbeing for all Virginians. About This Cause
The Federation of Virginia Food Banks is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit collaboration between the regional food banks affiliated with Feeding America. The Federation supports the seven regional Virginia/Washington DC food banks in building partnerships, securing healthy food, sharing data, and raising awareness of food insecurity throughout the Commonwealth. Working together as the largest hunger-relief network in the Commonwealth, Virginia’s seven regional food banks distributed 157 million pounds of food through 1,800 sites in 2023. Collectively, we serve nearly 800,000 people on an annual basis. Donations made to the Federation benefit the entire state including: Blue Ridge Area Food Bank (Verona) Capital Area Food Bank (Lorton) Feed More (Richmond) Feeding Southwest Virginia (Salem) Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia and the Eastern Shore (Norfolk) Fredericksburg Regional Food Bank (Fredericksburg) Virginia Peninsula Foodbank (Hampton)
