Mission Statement
SCAN’s mission is to prevent and treat child abuse and neglect throughout the Greater Richmond area by protecting children, promoting positive parenting, strengthening families and creating a community that values and cares for its children.
About This Cause
SCAN provides the awareness, support, advocacy, treatment and education needed to enhance the lives of children. SCAN’s services promote positive parenting, strengthen families and help create a community that values and cares for its children. Our programs include: The Family Support Program (FSP), The Child Advocacy Centers (CAC), Richmond Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA), The Circle Preschool Program (CPP) and Community Programs. SCAN primarily serves families from the cities of Richmond, Colonial Heights, and Petersburg and the counties of Chesterfield, Charles City, Cumberland, Goochland, Hanover, Henrico, Louisa, New Kent, Powhatan and Prince George, in addition to other localities in Central VA.
