Mission Statement
The Free Clinic of Franklin County, Inc. (Bernard Healthcare Center) is a private, not-for-profit organization founded on the belief that everyone should have access to quality, affordable, primary health care -- regardless of their socio-economic or insurance status. Our vision is to create a healthier community by improving our patients’ health through excellence in meeting their primary health care needs, disease prevention, and wellness promotion in the community.
About This Cause
The Free Clinic of Franklin County was established in 1992 as a 501(c)3 agency in one room of an unused school, one night a week. It has since grown into a full-time clinic and is accredited by the Virginia Association of Free and Charitable Clinics. The Clinic provides basic medical care such as physical examinations for acute and chronic illnesses, diagnostic testing, treatment plans, referrals, wellness screenings, health education, and prescription medications to uninsured Franklin County area adults who qualify (
