About This Cause
Providing services to children impacted by abuse and neglect since 1993, the Southern VA Child Advocacy Center has evolved to provide a regional response to child victimization using a community-based framework of system partners and trained volunteers. The center's respond to child victimization is comprehensive and coordinated. The CAC provides a centrally located, child-friendly facility that offers the benefit of more immediate follow-up on child abuse reports; better coordination of medical and mental health assessments and treatments; fewer victim interviews; and a consistent continuum of support services to victims and their non-offending caretakers. The CAC is nationally accredited, and the services are comprehensive and community oriented. To achieve our mission, we advocate for safe, permanent homes for abused and neglected children; coordinate a multidisciplinary community-based response to child abuse and neglect; and offer educational and prevention programs.
