About This Cause
Kaleideum was formed in 2016 by the merger of The Children’s Museum of Winston-Salem and SciWorks, establishing a single organization with a new mission — “Inspiring wonder, curiosity, and lifelong learning in our children and community through interactive play and discovery.” In August 2021, Kaleideum broke ground on a new museum located in the heart of downtown Winston-Salem. The new museum — set to open in early 2024 — includes nearly 70,000 square feet of interior space and an expansive rooftop experience. Kaleideum delivers informal education in an innovative manner by focusing on fostering critical thinking, problem-solving, innovation skills, frustration tolerance, and the bravery to fail and try again. Like a kaleidoscope, Kaleideum encourages examining the world through different overlapping lenses thereby practicing and developing these critical skills that equip and empower visitors to be a part of our ever-changing world.
