The mission of Alamance County Meals on Wheels, Inc. is to provide nutritional services in Alamance County which improve and enhance quality of life; nourish the body, mind, and spirit; and promote independent living for seniors and their families.
About This Cause
Alamance County Meals on Wheels mission is to provide nutritional services in Alamance County which improve and enhance quality of life; nourish the body, mind, and spirit; and promote independent living for seniors and their families. We serve anyone over the age of 60, lives alone or with someone with similar conditions, unable to or limited driving, has under 20 hours of in home aide per week and is unable to prepare meals. Meals are delivered by volunteers in our community. It takes approximately 1-2 hours to deliver a route. We currently have 30 routes that cover the county. Volunteers deliver meals Monday-Friday and are the heart of our program. Without our volunteers our program wouldn’t be able to serve as many homebound seniors as we do. We serve approximately 530 seniors each week. For many of our clients, our volunteers are thew only faces they see on a daily basis. Volunteers provide more than just a meal and friendly face, they also provide safety checks.
