Mission Statement
Black Child Development Institute of Greensboro, Inc (BCDI-G) was founded in 1978 by Greensboro, NC native, Sarah Walden Herbin. Since our inception, we have been steadfast in our mission of improving and protecting the quality of life of children, youth and families in the Greater Greensboro community.
About This Cause
BCDI-G provides free out of school time (OST) support for students in the Greater Greensboro community. Our OST is usually offered through afterschool and summer programs which providing student with free one-on-one or small group academic assistance through tutoring and skill development; providing access to enrichment through STEM activities; and offering opportunities for family enrichment while opening doors for access to community partnership and support. Though our programs are open to all children regardless of ethnicity or socio-economic status, our program targets minority students from low income households, the group most likely to need support to combat the opportunity gap that permeates in our community. With your support we will continue to make a difference in the lives of children, youth and families in the Greater Greensboro Community. Please visit our website (www.BlackChildDevelopment.org) for additional information on our current programing, ways you can become involved with our organization, and to sign up for our e-newsletter!
