Mission Statement
Inter-Faith Food Shuttle feeds our neighbors, teaches self-sufficiency, grows healthy foods, and cultivates innovative approaches to end hunger.
About This Cause
Founded in 1989 and a Feeding America network member since 2001, we engage our mission with the understanding that ending hunger takes more than food on the table. We collaborate with dedicated partners across seven counties to end hunger in central North Carolina. Our "Feed-Teach-Grow" approach to hunger relief began with Food Recovery and Distribution (1989), Grocery Bags for Seniors (1994), BackPack Buddies (1995), and Culinary Training (1998). From 2004-2014, this expanded to Nutrition Education, a Produce Farm, 2 Learning Gardens, Garden Education, School Pantries and Summer Kids Meals. In 2020 we launched our newest initiatives: Gardens for Everyone and the Spinning Plate Food Truck. This diverse array of programs equips food-insecure neighbors to provide healthy food for themselves.
