Mission Statement
DARE Burlington, Inc. is a non-profit organization [501(c)(3)] dedicated to helping kids make safe and responsible decisions. D.A.R.E. Burlington, Inc. is composed of a board of directors by volunteers from within the community. Board volunteers come from various backgrounds, such as business owners, community leaders, parents, school administrators. Board members advise D.A.R.E. Officers in Alamance County on how to utilize the organization funds to promote the D.A.R.E. program in the community by providing safe, fun, and educational events for youth and families.
About This Cause
The purpose of D.A.R.E. Burlington, Inc. is to advise and support the D.A.R.E. Officers of Alamance County in their daily duties of promoting anti-drug use and violence & gang prevention. D.A.R.E. Burlington, Inc. conducts an annual golf tournament as a fundraiser to provide materials for classrooms, graduations, promotional items, and equipment for the DARE Officers. In addition, D.A.R.E. Burlington sponsors various events for youth throughout the school year. The main two events are: 1) D.A.R.E. Days in the Park - two days where 5th grade graduates of the elementary D.A.R.E. program are able to interact with police officers in fun and educational activities. 2) Annual Middle School Basketball Tournament - takes place each February to promote the importance of staying involved in positive alternative activities. Other events include 5th grade D.A.R.E. dances and 6th grade reunion dances held in conjunction with THATAWAYS Teen Center, as well as participation and representation at other community events.
