Mission Statement

TROSA is an innovative, multi-year residential program that enables substance abusers to be productive, recovering individuals by providing comprehensive treatment, work-based vocational training, education, and continuing care.

About This Cause

TROSA is a comprehensive two year residential substance abuse recovery program in Durham, North Carolina accepting substance abusers with one condition: they must have a strong desire to change their lives. TROSA’s program elements include vocational training, education, counseling, mentoring, leadership training, and continuing care. Our treatment model is the Therapeutic Community, a drug-free residential setting that uses a hierarchical model with treatment stages reflecting increased levels of personal and social responsibility. The community relies on its members – both treatment staff and those in the program – as change agents. TROSA gives people the tools and support they need to overcome addiction; rebuild their lives from the ground up; enjoy sober, productive, law-abiding lives; and reconnect with their families and communities. TROSA provides every resident with 24/7 care and treatment – including secure housing, food, clothing, and personal care items – at no charge. By offering our services free of charge, we eliminate financial barriers to treatment. Our funding comes from three primary sources: revenue generating programs which provide vocational training for residents, donations from individuals, companies, and foundations, and modest government support.
